French bread, Long approx 1/2 lb

Milk

Eggs

Sugar

Vanilla

Butter
cut into small pieces
Instructions
Generously grease 13x9 pan
Cut French bread into 1 in. thick slices
Arrange bread slices in single layer over bottom of pan
In large bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla
Pour over bread
Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight
Heat over to 350
Remove casserole from fridge and uncover
It isn't necessary to bring to room temp
Dot with butter
Bake uncovered at 350 for 40-50 min or until bread is puffy and lighter brown
Serve with hot syrup
Notes
Because the french bread expands overnight, do not overly stuff the pan with too many slices
