French Toast Casserole

Equipment

  • 13x9 pan greased

Ingredients
  

  • 1 French bread, Long approx 1/2 lb
  • 3 c Milk
  • 8 Eggs
  • 4 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla
  • ¾ tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Butter cut into small pieces

Instructions
 

  • Generously grease 13x9 pan
  • Cut French bread into 1 in. thick slices
  • Arrange bread slices in single layer over bottom of pan
  • In large bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla
  • Pour over bread
  • Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight
  • Heat over to 350
  • Remove casserole from fridge and uncover
  • It isn't necessary to bring to room temp
  • Dot with butter
  • Bake uncovered at 350 for 40-50 min or until bread is puffy and lighter brown
  • Serve with hot syrup

Notes

Because the french bread expands overnight, do not overly stuff the pan with too many slices
